Yoga for Mental Health

Ages 14-80

 

Yoga for Mental Health is instructed by a Licensed Professional Counselor, who is trained in integrating time- honored yoga practices with mental health treatment. This specialized approach creates optimal effectiveness and practice to meet the individual needs of the client or Yoga for Mental Health student.

 

Yoga

Yoga for Mental Health will help clients develop and improve body and mind integration by learning how to calm the nervous system, increase breath awareness, and access the relaxation response. These stress reduction techniques are practiced in session and are designed to be used in everyday life.

 

Yoga for Mental Health also facilitates improved cognitive awareness including noticing negative thinking patterns, gaining clarity of mind, and increasing the ability to sustain focus and concentration. This form of therapeutic yoga can increase emotional regulation by helping the client to create a safe space, learn how to befriend the body, practice self-soothing and grounding techniques, and learn how to develop compassion for yourself and others.

 

Clients and students will learn how to incorporate gentle poses, meditation, and breathing techniques into their daily routine to reduce emotional and physical symptoms associated with anxiety or depression. Clients will be encouraged to check in and check out with the Yoga for Mental Health instructor to monitor their symptoms, level of progress, personal emotional experience, and ongoing concerns. Individual classes will be personalized to fit the client’s current needs (length of session/ focus of treatment). Chair Yoga is also available for clients with physical limitations.

 

Scheduling and Pricing

Yoga for Mental Health private and small group sessions is individualized to form the most effective therapeutic method for the client or student. Many clients experience challenges that are often described as having symptoms of “depression” or symptoms of “anxiety.” When scheduling a session, please indicate if you wish to try yoga for anxiety or yoga for depression.

 

Yoga for Anxiety will focus on breathing techniques and grounding postures. Clients will learn how to increase their awareness of worry thoughts, quiet their mind, and bring their attention to the breath. In addition, emotional processing time and journaling may be a component of your session.

Yoga for Depression will focus on breathing techniques and energizing poses. Clients will learn ways to implement breathing techniques and movement to decrease fatigue, increase self-gratitude, and welcome energy into the body. In addition, emotional processing time and journaling may be a component of your session.

All workshops will have a designated day and time schedule posted on our website. All workshops require registration prior to the start date of the classes. Due to the specialized nature of the workshops and the small group size, payment in full is due before or on the first day of the workshop. In order to receive full therapeutic benefit, it is strongly recommended that the student attend and participate in every scheduled workshop class. Refunds will not be made if classes are not attended.
