Pharmacogenomics is the study of how a person’s DNA may affect their response to medications. This state- of- the- art test allows your prescribing practitioner to know your genetic profile and how you metabolize various psychiatric medications. Genetic Testing may be a helpful tool in the prescriptive decision- making process, especially for patients who have experienced atypical responses to medications.
This test is pain free and does not require a blood sample. It is administered by swabbing the inside of your cheek using a Qtip. The results are sent to the lab and returned to your practitioner. Your practitioner will review the results with you at your follow up appointment, and you and your practitioner will discuss your course of treatment.
